Beyond Awesome 81 sites were full on Memorial Day weekend and 90 % of them left Monday the park host and 1 other lady cleaned every site, bathrooms, fire pits ,etc.. and took care of me in 8 hours, Wow very impressive ladies Awesome Campground will return and highly recommend this Campground
This has been a family favorite over the years for many reason. And this past trip we even had a Moose come through.
- Plenty of trees, sites are well spaced apart so you have room for multiple tents and a bit more privacy. Well maintained, I’ve never seen a broken down picnic table or a fire pit that wasn’t in great shape.
- Great for families with little ones. Bring bikes. Always lots of kids her. And even though there’s plenty of FCFS sites, I’ve never seen the partying riffraff come thru.
- Manitou lake is a short walk away and has great fishing! We feasted on fresh trout each night.
- The hosts are great - so on top of everything and even delivered wood to my site.
- Camping as a single mom with my kids I’ve never felt safer.
The only downside I can see is that those with larger campers (5th wheel an up) had a tougher time trying to back in to sites. Definitely not impossible but looked a little challenging for some.
Stayed at this campground for three nights, cleaned bathrooms, very friendly people around with kids, they even have campground fun activities for kids, had an amazing time RVing , camping, kayaking and hiking around trails
Quiet and clean.
We enjoyed this campground during what has to be one of the busiest camping weekends in the state: 4th of July. While every spot was full, we were pleasantly surprised that the campground remained quiet and free from raucous party goers. For RV campers, nearly every site requires some leveling. Some are a bit of a challenge to back into. The hosts were helpful and polite, the bathrooms were clean, and the guests were well behaved. Ponderosa pines were plentiful and made great hammock supports for many a camper. The undergrowth is sparse and the ground surface is largely dirt and pine needles. Overall, a very pleasant campground with excellent access to Manitou Park Lake.
Beautiful! The campground, the scenery, the lake, all not to far from the springs. No hookups. Clean pit toilets, dumpsters. This is the first time I have been here and I will definitely go back. Lots of hiking trails. Bring your bug spray!!
A little gem. Very quiet with decent amount of space between sites. We’ve stayed here on 3 different off roading trips and it’s never been full. Chill every time. Lots of first come first serve but we’ve never had a problem. Clean pit toilets. Campground host can sell you bundles. Dog are allowed!
Recreation.gov nor the 800 number allowed us to have a reservation in advance so we took our chances with a walk up and our camping trip went better than we imagined. We were able to stay at the site we initially tried to reserve online. Great shade, spacious, did not feel crowded which was a concern when we saw this location had 80 sites. Bathrooms, trash, and water within stumbling distance of our site. Firewood was more expensive here ($2 more/bundle) than some other forest service campgrounds but we’re not complaining because we anticipated a fire ban. Keep an eye out for wild onions growing around the campground we found many and they were delicious addition to our pad Thai.
Very clean, quiet, campground. We were there on a Labor Day weekend and it was full. Spacious campsites. You can walk to Manitou lake from here. Host was friendly and informative.
